We’re a credit union on a Do Good mission
Our Mission
Work hard, have fun and win for our members!
A great financial institution can change your life for the better. That’s our mission and what gets us excited about the work we do.
Blue Federal Credit Union serves nearly 80,000 members in Colorado and Wyoming communities, and around the world. We’re part of a nationwide CO-OP network of credit unions that gives our members access to 5,000 shared branch locations across the U.S.—on par with major banks—as well as 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs.
As a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative, we return company profits to our members and communities, rather than to outside investors. We genuinely exist to serve, and it’s an honor and a delight to have our actual job be Doing Good: helping people succeed financially and in life, and strengthening the communities where we work and live.
Blue formed in 2016, when Warren Federal Credit Union (based in Wyoming and chartered in 1951) and Community Financial Credit Union (based in Colorado and chartered in 1956) decided to join forces and create a stronger-together financial institution serving more of the Rocky Mountain Front Range.
Our Story
United in service to people, communities, and our shared future
Blue Federal Credit Union formed in 2016 when two highly successful, progressive Front Range credit unions—one in Wyoming, one in Colorado, each with a long history—realized how much they had in common and how much more would be possible together.
On some level, it’s the same story as how credit unions came to be: People realized that by pooling money, financial smarts, time, and effort they could accomplish more together then individually.
“People helping people” is the heart of why we have credit unions.
Warren Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1951 by a group of civilian personnel at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne. Over the course of 65 years, Warren established roots and built trust with military and community members. These valued relationship remain strong as we support Air Force Blue members and their families around the world.
Community Financial Credit Union began a similar journey more than 50 years ago. It was chartered to serve the financial needs of employees at the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology site. CFCU later merged with Boulder Municipal Employees Credit Union and expanded its service to Broomfield and the surrounding communities.
